This Powerful Organization Helps People Of Color Get Into Med School

After visiting the Whitney Plantation in Louisiana with his daughter, medical student Dr. Russell J. Ledet felt like he wanted to make a statement about how far African-Americans have come since the days of slavery. He brought 14 other medical students to the plantation to pose for an inspirational photo that eventually went viral. The students have since formed The 15 White Coats, an organization that helps spread positive imagery to inspire young children of color and also helps lift the financial burden while applying to medical school.
